I'm falling for you
That high step at my front door
The cats bowl in my hallway
The loose rug on the floor
I'm falling for you
As I'm carrying food on my plate
Rushing from the kitchen
Because hunger cannot wait
But if I fall for you
I'll hurt my pride
I could fracture my hip
And I'll feel fear in my mind
I don't want to fall
No not for you
So I'll use a grab rail
Getting on and off the loo
I know I'm unsteady on my feet
So I must be careful on the stairs I climb
Using the banister for support
I'll take it one step at a time
When I sit down, I'll get in close
Until the backs of my legs feel the chair
Reaching for the arms I'll lower myself
Wherever I move I'll prepare
I refuse
To fall for you
My body has slowed down
So I must too
I love you my home
My place of comfort and peace
I'll be careful not to fall
And from fear I am released

”The Spear and the Staff” - Written by D. Sarkar 21st September 2015
So many
people in distress
What
difference can we make?
Those who
are selfless feel helpless
In a World
that needs a shake
People
forced from their homes
Making
dangerous journeys across the sea
Families
live in poverty
People have
nothing and are in need
Animals
suffer cruelty
They are our
companions
But rare
species are being killed
So their
hunter can feel like a champion
A shark’s
fins are cut off
To make a
tasteless and high-priced soup
Eating it only
to show affluence
How low some
people do stoop
Those that
hunger for wealth
Allowing
materialism to control
Hurting others for money and power
They drive a
spear through their own soul
Turn that
spear into a staff
Use it well
and you will be supported
With it you
are strong, you can go on
Guiding
others whose happiness has been thwarted
Help
yourself first
Then help
others when you are able
Be kind to
nature
These are
changes we must enable
If you can
help one, when they become strong
Then they could
help someone else too
More people would
benefit, life would be less shit
And the
reason for that could be you

Reaching Serenity – Written by D. Sarkar 14th January 2015
He’s not like me
She’s not like me
I don’t like what they do
Their beliefs scare me
A man who dresses as a woman
A woman who acts like a man
A girl wants to marry her girlfriend
A boy wants to be called Marianne
She converts to Islam
Because it saves her
A born again Christian
Finds peace in his saviour
Black and white
Straight and gay
Atheist, God fearing and spiritual
We are all in play
The diversity in this world
Is what makes it exciting
We should not fear
We should all be uniting
Recognise similarity in others
Maintain your own identity
If we celebrate our differences
We will reach serenity
